From 2010 to 2012, he was the acting governor of the Old Tbilisi district. From 2010 to 2012, he was the chairman of the Tbilisi unit of the National Enforcement Bureau. In 2010, he was made head of that bureau. In 2010, Mr. Melia was made head of the National Agency of Non-custodial Penalties and Probation at Georgia’s Ministry of Corrections, Probation, and Legal Assistance. From 2009 to 2010, he was the chairman of the National Enforcement Bureau. From 2008 to 2009, he was the deputy chairman of that bureau. From 2007 to 2008, Mr. Melia was an advisor to the Department of Defense and Law Enforcement at the National Security Council of Georgia. Later, he became the state advisor for security affairs at the same agency. From 2002 to 2003, he worked as an investigator at the Georgian Ministry of Security.

Nika Melia graduated from the Georgian Ministry of Security Academy with a degree in law. He studied international relations at Oxford Brookes University. He holds a master’s degree.
Nika Melia has been the chairman of the United National Movement party and a member of parliament since 2020. From 2017-2020, he acted as the chairman of the United National Movement’s political council. He had previously been a member of parliament in 2016-2019.
