Giorgi Gakharia graduated from the Faculty of History at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. He later studied at the School of Economics at Lomonosov State University in Moscow. Mr. Gakharia holds a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Business Administration and the School of Political Sciences at the Lomonosov State University of Moscow.


Work Experience
From 2019 to 2021, Giorgi Gakharia served as the prime minister of Georgia. In 2019, he was the secretary of the National Security Council. From 2017 to 2019, Mr. Gakharia acted as the minister of internal affairs and the deputy prime minister of Georgia. From 2016 to 2017, he was the minister of economy and sustainable development and was the chief economic advisor to the prime minister from 2014 to 2017. From 2013 to 2016, Mr. Gakharia held the position of the business ombudsman. Previously, from 2008 to 2013, he was the business development director at Lufthansa Service Holdings for Eastern Europe, CIS, and the Russian Federation. From 2006 to 2009, he was a visiting professor of applied biotechnology at the University of Moscow.
